While at the head of AMANN Group and driving forward globalisation, he built a second business empire in the US and became Chairman of the Management Board of URS, an Atlanta based refrigerated warehouse company. Under his visionary and innovative guidance, he managed to establish another successful company, which became one of the largest refrigerated warehouse companies in the US.
Further ventures in the US followed – Hanns A. Pielenz was always full of motivation and eager to find new approaches. The success proved him right. He was an entrepreneur with an unmistakable business sense, always open for a promising idea and ready to bear corporate risk and responsibility.
It was not only his business acumen that made him an outstanding entrepreneur but his passion for his work, the courage to try new ventures and especially the respect he had for other human beings. He was a mentor and supporter to many business people as well as young entrepreneurs and shared his experience and knowledge. He always had an open ear for his employees, appreciated them and sought the dialogue. In return for this, he was highly respected by his workforce.
For many years, Mr. Pielenz successfully engaged in the pharma industry as well as in medical engineering. When he himself was diagnosed far too early with myelofibrosis, he initiated and financed the research of a new cure for this disease. Unfortunately, the results came too late for him personally. However, the first tests on patients were very promising so that this commitment of Mr. Pielenz will also have a positive long-lasting effect.
Hanns A. Pielenz died on June 13, 2013 in his home in Vero Beach, Florida with his beloved family by his side.
