The Hanns A. Pielenz Foundation supports the children and youth work of the festival theatre Baden-Baden. Through the educational program “Columbus: Discover classic!” the pupils receive an introduction to classical music.
The aim is to give kids and teenagers a special encounter with music through various projects and strongly discounted entry tickets.
During the project “Danced notations” piano notes by Pierre Boulez were danced. The purpose of this project was to bring elementary school kids closer to music that they would otherwise rearly listen too.
During the children dance festival “Let’s Dance” more than 300 children experienced throughout different workshops the “fascination dance” and created small own choreographies for the final show in front of their parents and friends. The teachers rate the educational program very positively and they report that the kids really enjoy their visits to the festival theatre.
Since 2014 the Hanns A. Pielenz Foundation promotes the project „Teach the teacher“ within the framework of an exclusive partnership.
The quality of the musical education in schools depends strongly on the education of the respective teacher. The project „Teach the teacher“ is an advanced training and motivational program for music teachers, pedagogues as well as for soon-to-be music teachers. Music icon Richard McNicol is one of the creators of the workshops. Through the direct link to the festival theatre program, important works of music history, international artists as well as regional talents are being connected to this project. At the end of the project, the teachers should be able to integrate new ideas into their daily work. The “dream of the future” is a training centre in the festival theatre Baden-Baden in which international music educators motivate music teachers from all over Germany and introduce “Best Practice” examples.
