History.

 

1854 - Foundation of the sewing thread factory

Alois Amann founded the enterprise. The location then just like today: Bönnigheim, Baden-Württemberg, Germany. Production: twisted and dyed sewing threads.

 

1904 - New factory

The old sewing thread factory built in 1854 is torn down and a new, modern  factory is built instead.

 

1954 - 100 Years AMANN

A sound family enterprise is celebrating its anniversary.

 

1955 - Pioneer Work for Synthetic Threads

AMANN is the leading force that drives the development and production of synthetic spun sewing threads and filaments. The brand: Serafil

 

1968 - saba 

With the brand saba a new era of synthetic sewing thread begins.

 

1974 - Rasant

This polyester/cotton core spun thread is introduced on the market and starts its successful career.

 

1980 - sabac

With its polyester/polyester core spun thread sabac, AMANN explores entirely new worlds in the sewing thread technology.

 

1993 - New Dyehouse

At Augsburg a new ultramodern dyehouse for sewing threads starts its operation. 

 

1994 - AMANN took over Ackermann

AMANN takes over the old-established enterprise Ackermann-Göggingen AG. This makes AMANN one of the world’s largest sewing thread enterprises and adds competence in the field of embroidery threadscompany, and so establishes itself also in the United Kingdom. 

 

2002 - techX Performance Threads - the Technical Sewing Thread Range

Successful introduction of a completely new range of special products for technical textiles

 

2004 - 150 years of AMANN

An enterprise with a long tradition has become a global player.

sabaFLEX

AMANN sets new standards in the field of sportswear, underwear and swimwear with its highly elastic sewing thread sabaFLEX. 

 

2006 - New AMANN production plant in Romania

Start of the new production close to Brasov, Romania 

 

Serabraid - the new braided sewing thread

The new brand Serabraid is a high-quality braided thread for expressive decorative seams on shoes, leather, upholstery and leather steering wheels

 

2008 - AMANN GROUP acquires OXLEY THREADS LTD.

With the acquisition of Oxley Threads Ltd. one of the best known sewing thread producers in Europe, AMANN integrates this English, traditional thread company into the international sphere of activity of the AMANN Group and further strengthens the group’s expertise - in particular in the automotive sector.

 

2009 - Maximum quality with maximum responsibility

For the ongoing optimisation of the eco-balances in its sewing and embroidery threads AMANN has launched the new brand LIFECYCLE THREADS, with articles made from organic cotton and recycled polyester. 

Start of Chinese production

With the initiation of the first twisting machines in Yancheng AMANN could celebrate its start of production in China. The local build up of production capacities ensures a just-in-time delivery to the Asian market.

 

2011 – Texprocess Innovation Award for xtreme-tech

AMANN wins the Texprocess Innovation Award with its newly developed high-tenacity special sewing thread with Dyneema.

 

2013 - AMANN Bangladesh

Start of the modern production plant in Bangladesh.

 

2014 – AMANN’s year of innovations

With RasantGD, PremiumGD and sabaSOFT AMANN has launched three totally new products.
