Reducing costs by concrete sewing thread calculation

Today's retail environment is extremely competitive with consumers wanting more choice and more value for less money. As a result pressure on product pricing increases permanently. Add to this dramatically rising raw material costs and it becomes evident, indeed imperative, that product cost should be controlled and managed wherever possible within the manufacturing process. In this context, an accurate assessment of "Thread Demand" (the amount of thread required to manufacture a given product) is a key element in controlling product cost. Therefore the ability to evaluate stock requirements by order, must surely offer great benefit to any sewn products manufacturer.

AMANN offers several options for calculation your sewing thread demand:

ITC – Intelligent Thread Calculation

The ITC software (“Intelligent Thread Calculation”) was developed in close cooperation with GSD - specialized in solutions for time-cost benchmarking and productivity improvement in work measurement - especially for sewn products manufacturers. By analyzing each sewing parameter as stitch type, seam type, stitch density, material thickness, seam length, width of bite the concrete thread amount may be calculated as basis for purchasing. Often used forms as revers collar may be saved as a “feature” and inserted in a model as a construction kit.

The output contents

• Total demand per operation, per style & per order, optional: costs per thread type
• optional: survey of operations with sewing parameters
• optional: style or detail pictures

ITC software is supplied on a concurrent user license basis (325 € per license per anno, 195 € for further licenses) with regular updates and support. One license may be used by several users (not simultaneous).

Service und Technik- Broschure „Determing your sewing thread requirements“

This brochure contents a table with the sewing thread requirements making it possible to calculate the exact amount of sewing thread needed. The overview gives you the most important stitch types, and its picture with its specific uses.  Basis for the thread demands are standard parameters from apparel industry: stitch density of 4 stitches per cm, 1 mm material thickness, seam length 1 m.
