Short description
Pillow and quilt sewing includes the closing and lockstitch seams used to assemble pillows and quilts. Depending on the seam construction, needle thread is combined with looper or bobbin thread.
Closing seams
Closing seams join the textile components of pillows and quilts.
One application recommendation is a combined 401 + 504 safety seam.
The specified configuration is:
- Needle thread: Topfil 80
- Tex 30
- Looper thread: Texturan 120
- Tex 18
- Minimum needle size: Nm 70 / No. 10

Lockstitch seams
301 lockstitch can also be used for pillows and quilts.
One recommended combination uses:
- Needle thread: Saba 80
- Tex 40
- Bobbin thread: Saba 80
- Tex 40
- Minimum needle size: Nm 80 / No. 12
Another combination uses:
- Needle thread: Topcore 80
- Tex 40
- Bobbin thread: Saba 80
- Tex 40
- Minimum needle size: Nm 85 / No. 13
Needle and underthread combinations
The thread combination depends on the selected stitch type.
A safety seam combines needle and looper thread. A 301 lockstitch combines needle and bobbin thread.
The application guide therefore specifies different thread combinations for the respective seam constructions.
